For quick tests and users with few samples, 12-ID-B offers mail-in services -
where user samples are sent to the beamline, and data is collected by beamline staff.

Considerations

The mail-in program is designed for experimenters who do not have enough samples to run one day of beamtime, or those who cannot run remotely.
Several samples environments are available for this service.
Please review the sample holders and beamline setup information to determine if your experiment is appropriate for mail-in services.

Available Sample Holders

Normal Beamline Setup

  • X-ray Energy: 13.3 keV
  • SAXS/WAXS q-range: 0.004 - ~2.3 A^-1
  • - Sample-to-detector distances (SDD) -
  • SAXS: ~2.0m | WAXS: ~42cm | GISAXS: ~ 2.0m | GIWAXS: ~18 cm

Post-Beamtime

What to do AFTER your experiment concludes:

Waste Management

In general, mail-in samples are disposed of after experimental use. This Waste Form needs to be filled out by the user for beamline staff to dispose of user waste.

Data & Publications

Data can be transferred through Globus or APS ftp server.

Remember to fill out and submit 'End of Experiment' form once it is received
and review Citation & Acknowledgment Guidelines for publications.
